Some requests have been made over the years to translate the biography written by Martie Muller, wife of late Pastor Ivan Muller. I recently received a copy of the booklet, written in Afrikaans and self published by Martie Muller in 2007. I decided to post on a blog instead of publishing a complete translation. I hope that you will follow his life story along with me as I will periodically update the blog. Many thanks to two wonderful daughters who write, edit and author books themselves, Michelle and Natasja.
I first met Bro. Muller in 1971 when he came to visit a midweek bible study at the Belgische Evangelische Kerk in Gent, Belgium. He was accompanied by Bro. J. Van Wyk. My family had a fair bit of contact with J. Van Wyk which ultimately led to the formation of Members in Christ Assemblies in Belgium in 1975. Bro. Muller was a frequent visitor to Belgium and ended up being our pastor in Belgium for some time. I accompanied him at times on short mission outings to other countries in Europe. The experience of his ministry and company was very influential on my spiritual formative years.
Bro. Prinsloo, while visiting in Belgium on one of his round the world trips, had asked me to accompany him to Canada, United States and back to South Africa. I planned to travel with him the following week. I became very ill that weekend and couldn't travel. Later on that year, because of an error in documentation, I was refused a visa to visit South Africa. When I shared my disappointment with Bro. Muller at having missed this opportunity, he strongly suggested to forget South Africa but rather look for an opportunity to visit Canada. Bro. Muller always strongly encouraged people to hear from God, whether directly or by scripture. This will become clear as you read his biography. I took his advice and opened my bible. My finger landed on the verse in Acts 9: “...Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, …”(Acts 9:15 KJV). I took God’s word at face value and have lived in Canada since 1980.
I hope you will enjoy reading this biography and be spiritually challenged and strengthened.
Bro. Ezra
